Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will launch the Centre’s ambitious National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) on Monday. The NMP is a four-year plan for the government’s strategy to monetize infrastructural assets to generate revenue.
According to the media reports, the Government has prioritised brownfield infrastructure assets for NMP. The NMP is also intended to attract more foreign investors and stimulate alternate funding for infrastructure assets.
The Finance Minister made a number of key statements about asset monetisation in the Union Budget for 2021-22, emphasising that the govt is searching for new ways of raising funds.
The Government is completing 6 lakh crore in infrastructure assets, including expressways, mobile towers, stadiums, railway stations, and electricity grid pipes, among many other significant assets, for monetisation under the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP).
