The Maharashtra government decided on Wednesday, July 28, to reduce school fees by 15% for the current academic year.

“The Maharashtra cabinet decided today to reduce school fees by 15% for the current academic year. “A detailed order implementing this decision will be issued shortly,” School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad told reporters.

She stated that the decision was made in accordance with the Rajasthan government’s guidelines.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, parents’ organisations have been requesting relief from the state government in the form of reduced school fees. Schools in Maharashtra remain closed due to the pandemic and the possibility of a third wave.

“Schools affiliated to various education boards, including the Maharashtra board, have previously informed the state government that they will follow rules regarding the slashing of fees. To avoid confusion among parents and school administrators, the government order will cover a wide range of issues and complexities “The minister stated.
